Debt Payoff Calculator

Free interactive tool · results are estimates, not advice

Enter each debt with its balance, APR and minimum payment, set your total monthly budget, and compare the two classic payoff orders on your real numbers: avalanche (highest APR first — mathematically cheapest) vs snowball (smallest balance first — fastest first win).

How the two methods differ

Both methods pay minimums on everything, then aim every spare dollar at one target debt. Avalanche targets the highest APR (least total interest, provable). Snowball targets the smallest balance (quickest psychological win). The calculator shows exactly what the difference costs on your numbers — for some debt mixes it's trivial, for others it's four figures.

Estimates only: assumes fixed APRs, no new charges, and monthly compounding. Your statements govern. This is education, not credit counseling.
